Self-employed health insurance
Working for yourself means making your own health coverage decisions. If you’re a freelancer, consultant, contractor, gig worker, or independent business owner, Amanda Guerrero can help you discuss coverage options for yourself and your family. Start with your state, current coverage, budget, and the people who need coverage.
What people usually care about
- Monthly cost and out-of-pocket exposure
- Provider access and network questions
- Coverage for spouses or dependents
- How coverage works if they move or work across more than one area
What to compare before choosing a plan
Look beyond the monthly premium. Ask about the deductible, copayments or coinsurance, applicable out-of-pocket limits, exclusions, and any waiting periods. Ask how the specific product handles the care you expect to use.
Confirm your doctors, hospitals, and prescriptions against current plan information before enrolling. Product names or a familiar company name alone do not tell you what a particular policy covers.
Planning for a change in coverage
Tell Amanda if you’re leaving an employer plan, adding a family member, moving, or reviewing existing coverage. Ask which enrollment dates and effective dates apply to the options you’re considering. Do not assume a new policy starts immediately.
Prepare for your consultation
Have your state, who needs coverage, current coverage end date if known, and your main questions ready. You can begin by phone or text without sending sensitive medical or financial information.
